After 25 years writing and editing for newspapers and magazines in major markets, I launched my  career as an independent journalist in 2008, specializing in healthcare. In fall, 2014, I also began teaching graduate-level editing to Medill students at Northwestern University.

Focus areas:

  • Daily healthcare reporting and editing, including medical conference coverage. Coverage in recent years has taken me to the European AIDS Conference in Barcelona, the European Association of Dermatology conference in Paris and ECCMID in Copenhagen. Other recent published work has highlighted news in infectious disease, rheumatology, health technology and primary care.
  • I am a regular contributor to Medscape Medical News, currently focused on COVID-19 developments.
